Raising a blind child can feel like stepping into a new city without a map. There are unfamiliar turns, unexpected challenges, and countless moments when you wish someone could simply say, “I’ve walked this road before — and you’re not alone.”

‍That’s why we are proud to launch the TAD Sidewalk Program, our newest initiative for parents and families. Guided by our promise — Walk With Us — this program is designed to surround families with understanding, connection, and lived experience.

Built in partnership with blind individuals and parents who have already walked this journey, the Sidewalk Program connects families of blind and low-vision children with mentor parents who understand the questions, emotions, and decisions that come with raising a blind child. This is about honest conversations, shared wisdom, and a community that walks beside you — every step of the way.

• Who can Participate?

• 
  ‍Families of Blind Children
  Parents and caregivers seeking guidance, encouragement, and connection with someone who truly understands.
  
  ‍Parent Mentors
  Parents who are raising or have raised a blind child and feel called to walk alongside another family. Mentors are matched with one to two families and commit approximately one to two hours per month to connect, listen, and share their experiences.

-One-on-one parent-to-parent mentoring

-A supportive group chat for community connection
-In-person and virtual workshops and gatherings to build relationships, share resources, and strengthen community
